What is Fastlane?
Fastlane is a subscription plan from Off The Record. As a member, you do not pay individual legal fees when you need to fight an eligible traffic ticket. Instead, you pay a monthly membership fee and your tickets are covered — as many as you need, for as long as your membership is active.
Your membership covers tickets for two named drivers: you (the primary member) and your Copilot (another person you choose). Only tickets received by one of these two named drivers are eligible for coverage.
You set it up before anything happens, and when a ticket comes, you are already covered. No scrambling to find a lawyer. No unexpected legal fees. Just open the OTR app, book your case, and your attorney handles the rest.
What is included
Every Fastlane membership includes:
- Unlimited eligible traffic ticket coverage
No legal fees on qualifying traffic tickets for as long as your membership is active
- Copilot coverage
Add a second driver to your plan (a spouse, partner, family member, or anyone you choose). Your Copilot gets the same ticket coverage you do
- 25% off other legal matters
DUIs, misdemeanors, and other non-ticket cases are handled at a 25% discount off the standard legal fee
- $200 coverage credit
If you attempt to book an eligible ticket and we are unable to handle it, we give you $200
- Priority support
Fastlane members receive expedited support from our Customer Experience team
What about your Copilot?
Your Copilot is a second named individual you add to your Fastlane plan. They get the same eligible traffic ticket coverage you do — unlimited qualifying tickets contested at no additional legal fee.
Your Copilot can be anyone: a spouse, partner, family member, roommate, or friend. You choose who to add, and you can change your Copilot at any time through your account.
There is one important rule: only tickets issued while a Copilot is actively named on your membership are eligible for coverage.
This means:
- If your spouse gets a ticket today but is not currently listed as your Copilot, adding them after the fact does not make that ticket eligible. You would need to book that ticket pay-per-case.
- If you remove a Copilot from your account, their coverage ends immediately. Any tickets they receive after being removed are not covered.
- If you add a new Copilot, their coverage does not begin until they accept the invitation and are officially added to your account. Only tickets they receive after that point are eligible.
In short, Copilot coverage is active only while the person is officially on the account — not before they accept the invitation and not after they are removed.
Pricing
Fastlane offers two billing options:
| Plan | Price | Billing |
|---|
| Monthly | $29/month | Billed each month |
| Annual | $25/month | Billed as one annual payment ($300/year) |
What your membership fee covers (and what it does not)
Your monthly Fastlane membership fee covers:
- Attorney legal fees for eligible traffic ticket cases — these are waived entirely for members
- Certain OTR service fees associated with booking and managing your case
Your membership fee does not cover:
- Court fines and state fees
Any fines, court costs, or processing fees imposed by the court or the state as part of your case resolution
- Government-imposed charges
License reinstatement fees and other charges ordered by the court or a government agency
These are costs imposed by the court or the government, not by OTR or your attorney. They apply regardless of how you booked your case — whether through a Fastlane membership or pay-per-case. Your attorney will let you know if any court costs or fines apply after your case is resolved.
What tickets are covered
All civil and non-criminal traffic tickets are covered under your Fastlane membership. This includes:
- Speeding tickets
- Red light and stop sign violations
- Cell phone and distracted driving tickets
- HOV lane violations
- Improper lane changes and illegal U-turns
- Seatbelt violations
- Other common moving violations
In states where routine traffic violations are treated as misdemeanors — such as speeding tickets in Texas and Georgia — those tickets are covered too.
Coverage applies to tickets received while your membership is active. Tickets received before you became a member are not covered under the membership, but you can still fight them through OTR by booking pay-per-case.
What is NOT covered
Fastlane does not cover:
- Tickets received before your membership started
Only tickets received while your membership is active qualify for coverage
- Serious criminal charges
DUIs, hit and run, reckless driving, drug charges, and other criminal matters are not included in your membership coverage. However, Fastlane members receive a 25% discount on these case types when booked through OTR
- Violent crimes
These are not handled through OTR
- Cases where you have already hired a separate attorney
If another lawyer is already representing you on a matter, Fastlane coverage does not apply to that case
Is Fastlane worth it?
In most cases, fighting just one traffic ticket per year covers the cost of your annual Fastlane membership. The average legal fee to fight a traffic ticket on OTR is just under $200. A yearly Fastlane membership costs $300 (at the annual rate). So if you or your Copilot fight two or more tickets in a year, the membership has already more than paid for itself.
And that does not account for what you save on insurance. Even a single ticket on your driving record can increase your premiums by 20–40% for 3 to 5 years. Fastlane protects your record before a ticket ever has the chance to affect it.
How booking works with Fastlane
Booking a case as a Fastlane member works the same way as a pay-per-case booking — with one difference. At checkout, our system recognizes your active membership and waives the legal fee for eligible tickets (or applies your 25% discount for other case types)
For a deeper comparison, see Booking with a Fastlane membership vs. paying per case.
Does the money-back guarantee apply?
OTR's money-back guarantee does not apply to cases booked through a Fastlane membership. This is not because we are less confident in the outcome — it is simply because there is no legal fee to refund. Your monthly membership fee is a subscription payment, not a per-case charge, and it is not refunded based on individual case outcomes.
What if we cannot handle your ticket?
There are times when we are unable to handle a specific ticket — whether it is because no partner attorney is available in that area, all attorneys are at capacity, or for another reason. This can happen to anyone, not just Fastlane members. We will never deny a ticket simply because you are a Fastlane member. A pay-per-case customer with the exact same ticket would face the same availability issue.
Because we know how frustrating this is for a paying member, Fastlane includes a $200 coverage credit.
How the $200 coverage credit works:
• You attempt to book an eligible traffic ticket through your Fastlane membership
• OTR is unable to match you with an available attorney for that ticket
• We issue you $200
This policy exists because we know you are counting on your membership when a ticket comes. If we cannot come through, we want to help offset the cost of handling the ticket another way.
Cancellation
You can cancel your Fastlane membership at any time. When you cancel:
- Your membership stays active with full benefits until the end of your current billing period — you can still book new cases and use all membership features during this time
- Any cases already booked and in progress will continue to be handled through to completion
- You will not be charged again after your current period ends
There are no cancellation fees and no prorated refunds. If you cancel partway through a billing period, you keep full access to your membership benefits for the remainder of that period, but the membership fee for that period is not partially refunded. For example, if you pay for a full year and cancel one month in, your membership remains active with full benefits for the remaining 11 months — but we won’t charge you again when the year ends.
