Yes, OTR offers price matching
If you can show that another law firm or legal service is willing to handle your specific case for a lower fee than what OTR quoted, we will do our best to match it.
We would rather match a price and earn your business than lose you to a competitor. And when you book with OTR, even at a matched price, you still get everything that comes with the platform — SmartMatch, the money-back guarantee, the cancellation policy, case management through the app, and our support team behind you.
What we need from you
To request a price match, you will need to provide proof that the competing firm is willing to take on your specific case for a specific fee. We accept:
- An email or written quote from the firm listing the fee and the charge they will handle
- An invoice or engagement letter showing the agreed-upon fee for your case
A general advertisement or a website that says "Traffic tickets starting at $99" is not sufficient. We need evidence that the firm has quoted your specific case at a specific price — not a marketing starting rate.
It has to be apples to apples
For a price match to apply, the competing service must be for the same case under the same conditions. That means:
- Same charge
The violation or charges must match. A quote to handle a speeding ticket cannot be compared to your OTR quote for a DUI.
- Same court
The competing firm must be offering to handle the case in the same court where your case is filed.
- Same license type
If you are a CDL holder, the competing quote must also be for CDL representation, which typically costs more.
- Same aggravating factors
If your case has an FTA, a warrant, a default judgment, or other complications, the competing quote must account for those same factors.
If the competing quote is for a simpler version of your case — fewer charges, no aggravating factors, a different court — it is not an apples-to-apples comparison and would not qualify for a price match.
What does NOT qualify for price matching
Trial by Declaration (TBD) services
In California, drivers have the option to contest a ticket through a process called Trial by Declaration (TBD). With TBD, you write a letter explaining why you should not have been issued the ticket and mail it to the court. The court reads your letter and makes a decision — no attorney, no court appearance.
There are many services that offer to draft TBD letters on behalf of drivers, typically charging $25 to $200.
TBD is a completely different service from what OTR offers. When you book with OTR, a licensed attorney actually appears in court, interacts with the judge and prosecutor, and fights your case in person. The success rates, the level of representation, and the outcomes are not comparable. Because the services are fundamentally different, we do not price match TBD fees.
The same is true for any service that only prepares or submits paperwork on your behalf — if no attorney is representing you in court, it is not comparable to OTR's service and does not qualify for a price match.
💡 Why the distinction matters:
Anecdotal data suggests that Trial by Declaration has a low success rate compared to having an attorney represent you in court. A $99 TBD letter and a $200 attorney who shows up in court are not the same product — just like a self-serve car wash and a full detailing service are not the same product, even though both involve cleaning a car.
Quotes from attorneys in a different state
We regularly hear from prospective customers who find a low legal fee in one state and ask us to match it for a case in a different state. There are two problems with this:
- Licensing Only attorneys licensed in the state where you received the ticket or charge can handle your case. An attorney in Texas cannot represent you in an Arizona court, no matter how low their fee is.
- Market dynamics Legal fees vary dramatically from state to state. The average fee to fight a traffic ticket in Texas is under $100. In Arizona, it is around $700. These are completely different legal markets with different costs, court systems, and attorney availability. A Texas fee cannot be used as a benchmark for an Arizona case.

Even without a price match, OTR offers more
It is worth remembering that when you book with OTR, your legal fee is only part of what you get. Even if we cannot match a competitor's price, booking through OTR includes benefits that most law firms and legal services do not offer:

How to request a price match
If you have a competing quote and want to request a price match, contact our support team with:
- Your full name and the email address with which you created your OTR account
- Your OTR quote or case details
- The competing firm's quote (email, invoice, or written communication showing the fee and the case details). It must show the firm name and contact info.
Our team will review the request and typically respond within 1–2 business days. If the comparison qualifies, we will send you a referral code to use on the checkout page when booking your case. Simply enter the code at checkout and the matched price will be applied.
What if your price match is declined?
If the comparison does not qualify — for example, the competing quote is for a different charge, a different court, or a letter-only service — you can still book your case on OTR.
One thing to know: quotes expire after 30 minutes, so your original quote will no longer be active by the time the review is complete. To book, run your case through the booking wizard again for a fresh quote. The new quote may be the same as your original, or it may be higher or lower — legal fees depend on law firm and attorney availability, which change over time. See Why did my quote change? for more.
